The Study Of Case Work Intervention In The Adjustment Of The Relationship Between The Disabled Elderly And Their Family Caregivers In Rural Areas

At present,China’s aging trend is obvious,and the proportion of the elderly population continues to rise.Among them,disabled and semi-disabled elderly accounted for 18.3% of the national elderly population.Disabled and semi-disabled elderly people has become an important research topic in the field of social work for the elderly.In recent years,the research on social work of the disabled elderly mainly focuses on the field of the caregiver’s stress relief,there is a lack of special research on the relationship between the disabled elderly and the caregiver.Therefore,how to improve the families’ ability to cope with risks by improving the family relations of the disabled elderly is not only a practical problem faced by the disabled elderly families,but also an important academic research topic for social work to answer the care problems of the disabled elderly.Based on the semi-structured interview and observation,this paper analyzes the communication problems between the disabled elders and their caregivers.Then,this paper studies the typical cases of the conflict between disabled elderly and family caregivers in rural areas.In the process of intervention,the author understood about the family status through interviews with the disabled elderly and family members,analyzed and defined the existing family problems.Then,by providing psychological and technical support,social worker helped the disabled elderly and their spouses to ease the estranged relationship.Again,by examining and rebuilding family communication,social worker helped the disabled elderly to establish a benign emotional interaction with their family caregivers to improve their family relationship,and future relieving the pressure of caregivers and promoting the disabled elderly to get better care.In addition,the author evaluates the process from the performance of the service object,the application of the worker’s skill and the achievement of the stage goal,and the results from the change of service objects,which reflects the effectiveness of social work intervention in the relationship between the disabled elderly and their family caregivers.Based on the above research,it is found that there are some problems between disabled elderly and family caregivers,such as alienation,family conflicts and poor family communication mode.Furthermore,the study suggests that it is effective for social workers to use the Satir family therapy model to adjust the relationship between the disabled elderly and their family caregivers.This study holds that the family intervention of disabled elderly can be carried out from three levels: individual,interpersonal communication and family,so as to help clients and their family members to be aware of their personal coping attitude and unreasonable rules in the family,and learn and practice new family communication models,thus improving family relations.
