High school stage is the key period for the formation of students’ outlook on life,world outlook and values.As a basic humanities discipline,one of the important missions of history is to educate students with correct values and goal orientation.As one of the five core qualities of history discipline,home and country feelings aims to help students build the humanistic pursuit and social responsibility that they should have in learning history.All these happen to coincide with the important mission of history discipline,so the cultivation of high school students’ home and country feelings is a necessary subject of history discipline at present.In recent years,many people pay attention to the accomplishment of home and country feelings,and the related research has made some progress,but there is still room for further research in the practice of history teaching in middle schools.The teaching of historical figures is often used in middle school history class because of its strong demonstration,interest and flexibility.However,the home and country feelings are more dependent on the quality and behavior of specific historical figures,so the teaching of historical figures can effectively cultivate students’ home and country feelings.Starting from the curriculum standard,this paper expounds the close relationship between the teaching of historical figures and the cultivation of home and country feelings,organizes and analyzes the national feelings of historical figures in the history textbooks and high school entrance exams,so as to show that the teaching of historical figures plays an important role in the cultivation of home and country feelings of high school students.Through the investigation of the current situation of the teaching of historical figures and the cultivation of students’ home and country feelings in Suzhou S school,we can understand the problems existing in the current teaching,so as to put forward the attention points of cultivating students’ home and home and country feelings in the teaching of historical figures,and carry out the corresponding teaching practice to verify the feasibility.Because the partial teaching is often discrepant with the actual history teaching,the present of complete teaching cases is used to guide the teaching of historical figures in the middle school history class to cultivate the teaching of high school students’ home and country feelings.Finally,it can not only achieve the mission of value-oriented history in the new era,but also enable students to better understand the home and country feelings of historical figures through vivid teaching of historical figures,so as to implement the cultivation of home and country feelings of senior high school students in history classes.
