From the perspective of talent training,the emerging engineering education is a reform plan proposed to adapt to the world engineering education revolution,and aims to cultivate inter-disciplinary talents with comprehensive qualities.College teachers’ teaching ability is a key factor in talent training as well as a key link in the construction of emerging engineering education disciplines.In the context of emerging engineering education construction,analyzing the current situation of teachers’ teaching ability exerts a fundamental and important influence on realizing the training goals of emerging engineering education talents,improving teaching quality,and promoting teachers’ professional growth.Based on the theory of human resource management,hierarchy of needs and teachers’ professional development,this research makes an indepth analysis of teachers’ teaching ability by means of questionnaire method,word frequency statistics method and interview method,analyzes the problems and causes of teachers’ teaching ability,explores the problems of teachers’ teaching ability,and puts forward countermeasures to improve teachers’ teaching ability.Through research,it is found that the overall level of the current teachers’ teaching ability is good,but there are still some problems of unbalanced and insufficient development of teachers’ ability.Specifically,teachers’ educational concepts and cognition are updated slowly,lack of guidance in the integration of interdisciplinary knowledge systems,misalignment between practical teaching and students’ needs,mismatch between teachers’ professional titles and teaching quality,and obstacles in teacher-student communication.Through the analysis of the interview data of teachers and teaching managers,it is found that the main reasons for the above problems lie in three aspects: system guarantee,support of schools and departments and teachers themselves.The system guarantee needs to be improved,which is manifested as too much emphasis on scientific research achievements in assessment,insufficient support for curriculum teaching and lack of special teaching training;The lack of practical effect of school and department support is embodied in the neglect of teachers’ actual demands,lack of specific and immediate guidance and the lack of close contact between teaching teams;The limitation of teachers’ own conditions is the lack of teaching reflection ability subjectively and the limitation of time and energy objectively.Based on the above problems,this study proposes countermeasures to improve teachers’ teaching ability from three aspects: system guarantee,school support and individual teachers.In the aspect of system guarantee,it is necessary to improve the diversified assessment system and multidimensional curriculum support system,and strengthen the special teaching training of teachers.At the level of supporting schools and departments,it is necessary to pay more attention to the actual demands of teachers and build new grassroots teaching organizations.At the level of individual teachers,teachers should return to their original aspiration of education,broaden their professional knowledge and better their teaching skills.Finally,schools,colleges and teachers will jointly promote the improvement of teachers’ teaching ability and the construction of emerging engineering education through multi-subject and multi-action coordination.
