In order to meet the new requirements of China’s new economy and new industries for the ability of engineering and technical talents,how to improve the engineering practice ability of engineering students under the background of emerging engineering has become an urgent problem for higher engineering education and all sectors of society.This paper takes engineering undergraduates as the research object,and studies the cultivation of their engineering practice ability based on the theory of "ability-based education" and "self-efficacy".First,using the case analysis method,taking chemical engineering undergraduates as an example,starting from the five dimensions of goal setting,curriculum system,teacher support,teaching methods and environmental facilities,the engineering of chemical engineering undergraduates from five universities at home and abroad case analysis is carried out on the training program of practical ability.Afterwards,in order to verify the credibility of the above enlightenment further,taking the engineering practice ability of the undergraduates majoring in chemical engineering and technology of T University as the survey object,supplemented by interviews,the questionnaire survey method was used to conduct empirical investigation and found that there are deficiencies in its training.Finally,based on the conclusions of the empirical research and the enlightenment from the case studies,relevant training strategies and suggestions are put forward.The main conclusions of this research include: First,by analyzing the specific practices of the five dimensions of training objectives,curriculum systems,faculty,teaching methods,and environmental facilities in the cultivation of chemical engineering students in five universities at home and abroad,It is found that all colleges and universities have valuable experience in improving students’ engineering practice ability.Second,through the questionnaire survey,it is found that the overall engineering practice ability of undergraduates majoring in chemical engineering and technology in T University is relatively good,and the various influencing factors studied have a significant impact on the students’ engineering practice ability.However,there is still room for improvement in terms of goal setting,curriculum system,teacher support,teaching methods,and construction of practical resources.Third,based on the theory of “competence-based education”,it proposes specific ways to improve students’ engineering practice capabilities under the background of emerging engineering disciplines: First,establish a guarantee mechanism at the macro level and create an overall coordinated cooperation environment.In terms of policy guarantees,universities and colleges Implement “simplification of administration and delegation of authority” at the level to ensure that enterprises have “laws to follow”when participating in the collaborative education of emerging engineering disciplines,provide financial support and exchange platforms in material aspects,and carry out regular assessments and classified assessments in terms of quality supervision;secondly,in Optimizing the collaborative governance mechanism at the meso level,evolving to the form of "stakeholder co-governance",accurately positioning the role of the government,and realizing the transformation of the government from administrative intervention to macro-control,through the "power checks and balances" and "Co-construction and sharing" activates the governance effectiveness of all relevant parties in the collaborative education of new engineering disciplines;finally,at the micro level,through the implementation of six connections,innovation and reform of teaching models are realized: to promote the integration of talent training goals with industry development and the integration of curriculum content Technological development,the faculty connects "dual-qualified" expert teachers,the teaching method connects to the engineering practice process,the environmental facilities connect to the "dual practice base" inside and outside the school,the integration of corporate culture,and the diversified evaluation of self-efficacy.
