| The research of public service motivation started late in China,so how to realize the China of public service motivation theory and apply it to the concrete practice in China is the key direction of current research.At present,the research on domestic public service motivation mainly focuses on civil servants.In fact,the motivation of public service may be reflected in all public service workers,not just civil servants.College students are a new generation of reserve forces engaged in public service in the future.Studying their public service motivation is also an attempt to innovate the research object of public service motivation and make the theory of public service motivation China.This study takes Guangxi college students as the research object,using quantitative analysis method,explores the relationship between college students’ public service motivation and their career choice intention in the public sector,and introduces employment pressure as an intermediary variable to carry out related research.Based on the questionnaire survey of 515 valid questionnaires of college students in Guangxi,the research hypothesis is verified by quantitative analysis,and the following main conclusions are finally drawn:(1)There is a significant correlation between college students’ public service motivation and career choice intention in the public sector,among which college students with higher self-sacrifice motivation and public policymaking motivation have stronger intention to join the public sector;(2)There is a significant correlation between college students’ employment pressure and the public sector’s intention to choose jobs,among which college students with poor family economic conditions and family social network have stronger intention to join the public sector;(3)There is a significant correlation between college students’ public service motivation and employment pressure.Among them,the higher the motivation of making public policies,the greater the employment pressure.(4)Employment pressure plays a part of intermediary role in the influence of public service motivation on public sector’s career choice intention,that is,in the process of public service motivation’s influence on public sector’s career choice intention,part of the influence comes from the intensity of public service motivation and part from the size of employment pressure.Based on the above conclusions,this study puts forward the following suggestions:Add the investigation of public service motivation in the recruitment process;Carry out employee training related to the content of public service motivation;Strengthen ideological education and cultivate college students’ awareness of public service;Carry out various public service activities with rich contents,etc.,in order to provide reference suggestions for improving college students’ public service motivation and improving the recruitment and management of public sector personnel. |
