Under the background of the digital age,the digital information technology represented by the Internet has sunk to the countryside and been applied to a variety of scenes, and has had a huge impact on the daily life of rural residents, participation in employment and other aspects. The rural labor employment is an issue that many scholars have been concerned about. At present, there are still a large number of female labor force in rural areas. The rural female non-agricultural employment issue is worthy of attention and has great practical significance and application prospect for solving the rural labor employment issue. However, taking care of children takes up the energy and time of rural women and reduces their likelihood to participate in employment.Intergenerational care provided by grandparents can alleviate the conflict between child care and work faced by rural women to some extent and relieve the pressure of rural women. The development of digital information technology has given new significance to intergenerational care and women’s employment. In order to explore the impact of intergenerational care support on rural women’s off-farm employment participation,off-farm working hours and off-farm working distance under the background of the digital age,the data of China Household Tracking Survey(CFPS)in 2020 were adopted.Binary Probit selection model, instrumental variable method and Heckman twostage estimation method were used for analysis, and ordinary least square method(OLS)was used to compare the results. The results show that: under the background of digital age, intergenerational care can promote the non-agricultural employment of rural women, but its importance is decreasing.According to the study on regional heterogeneity of the sample,in the central rural areas, generational care has a significant positive promoting effect on the non-farm employment of rural married women, while in the eastern and western rural areas, the promoting effect is not significant. With the support of intergenerational care, rural married women spent significantly more time in off-farm employment and were more likely to be employed remotely. Therefore,it can be concluded that: In the digital era, thanks to the continuous development of digital economy and deep integration with various fields,it not only helps grandparents to take care of each other, but also creates a large number of jobs and employment opportunities, helping rural women to get employment.Taking care of each other will indeed affect rural married women to engage in non-agricultural employment.Even affect their employment time and employment distance of the final choice results. On this basis, suggestions were put forward to improve the childcare service for children, support family intergenerational care, improve the employment security system for women, and encourage local enterprises to transform and absorb female labor force.
