For historical and practical reasons, the role of women in rural revitalisation has become increasingly important.Activating their important role in the process of rural revitalisation and enabling them to achieve local employment in the countryside has become a proposition that cannot be ignored by academics and the government. In exploring the reasons that hinder women’s participation in local employment in rural areas,"family care" is a topic that cannot be avoided. In this study,’caregiving’ and’member care’ are combined into ’family care’ in an attempt to demonstrate the impact of family caregiving on women’s participation in local employment in a new policy and social context. The impact of family care on women’s local and local employment in the new policy and social environment.A review of existing research identifies the marginal contributions of this study to’family care’ and ’rural local employment’,while the new family economics and care economics provide the theoretical framework for this study, leading to the conclusion that family care inhibits women’s participation in local employment by crowding out their time and energy and undermining their health. This leads to the research hypothesis that family caregiving inhibits women’s participation in rural local employment by crowding out their time and energy and undermining their health. The CHNS database was used to empirically test the impact of family caregiving on women’s participation in local employment, supplemented by recent research data and case studies in Zhangye,Gansu Province.(1)Family caregiving time has a significant inhibitory effect on rural participation in local employment,a finding that still holds after robustness testing.(2)The dampening effect of family caregiving time on rural participation in local employment is more pronounced among the younger and older age groups, among the more educated groups and in the eastern and central parts of the country.(3)Family caregiving inhibits women’s participation in rural local employment by crowding out women’s time and energy and undermining women’s health.(4)Women entrepreneurs have squeezed the social expectations of family care through their own ’entrepreneurial spirit’,but are still unable to avoid its effects.(5)The inhibiting effect of family caregiving on local employment in the countryside is not only a reflection of the contradiction between women’s participation in the workplace and their return to the family, but also a mixture of the contradiction between market competition faced by business operators and women’s flexible working hours, and the contradiction between the grass-roots government’s ability to absorb women and its ability to implement projects in a hurry. This is a comprehensive problem in the supply of labour for rural revitalization. This study re-examines the meaning of "family care" in China’s rural context and analyses its fundamental impact on women’s participation in rural local employment, with a view to providing theoretical references for the future formulation of targeted employment absorption policies for rural women left behind.
