| With the development of the internet,significant changes have occurred in the ecology and evolution of public opinion in the era of self-media.The government’s ability to respond to public opinion crises is a necessary condition for improving the modernization level of governance and is also a problem that political communication theory must address to adapt to the Chinese context.Based on the crisis lifecycle theory and group polarization theory,this article explores the root causes of network public opinion crises in emergencies in the self-media environment from three aspects:political and social environment,media communication environment,and netizens’ psychology,aiming to provide some reference and inspiration for relevant research.Taking the 2019 "Chongqing Porsche female driver slapping incident" as a case study,this article collected and analyzed relevant public opinion data for 13 days from the formation to resolution of the crisis,focusing on the self-media environment and its influence on public opinion,and understanding in detail the response measures of government departments to the public opinion crisis.It presents the entire process of the crisis’ s evolution in each stage and the trajectory of the topic shift in the network,interprets the government’s different response measures in each stage of the public opinion crisis,summarizes the successful experience and existing shortcomings of dealing with the network public opinion crisis,analyzes the reasons,and proposes targeted strategic recommendations for dealing with the network public opinion crisis in the self-media environment.The research concludes that,firstly,the generation of network public opinion crises in emergencies in the self-media environment is influenced by the three elements of political and social environment,media communication environment,and netizens’ psychology.Secondly,there are still problems such as inaccurate judgment of public opinion,lack of departmental collaboration,weak leading role of network discourse,and insufficient government public relations capabilities in dealing with network public opinion crises in the self-media environment.The reasons are analyzed from three aspects: cognition of the self-media environment,public opinion response concepts,and response mechanisms.Thirdly,this article proposes practical countermeasures and suggestions from four aspects to enhance the government’s ability to deal with network public opinion crises in the self-media environment,in order to provide support for the construction of the government’s network public opinion crisis response mechanism. |
