| Value is a very important psychological and cultural phenomenon in human society. The change of human values has a great impact on social change, which can be used to explain the social reality and deduce the future development trend. And the values of the middle class have a very important impact on social stability.College students are the reserve army of the middle class and the future middle class,so it is very important to study the status and changes of their values.By studying the core political values of national identity,we can grasp by sketching the concrete and profound actual ideological dynamics of this group. From the perspective of values and their importance, this study explores how Chinese college students’ national identity is affected by epidemic information dissemination, economic factors and university level in the early stage of the novel coronavirus epidemic.Through literature review and combing, this paper introduces relevant theories and researches on why college students’ national identity has changed, including pseudo-environment theory, disaster social vulnerability theory and the theory of horizontal stratification in higher education. This study conducted a dialogue with these theories and constructed relevant indicators for exploration. At the same time, the study responded to the requirements of the national youth development plan, which is conducive to grasping the status of young people’s values and promoting the completion of the task goal of "Online thought leading".On this basis, through the Panel Study of Chinese University Students(PSCUS)in China at the early stage of the epidemic, supplemented with the survey data of the same survey object shortly before the outbreak of the epidemic,it can be a good way to observe and record the change of college students’ national identity of values, and explore how epidemy-related information plays a role in its change.By using contingency analysis,OLS regression analysis,Mlogit model, constructing interaction terms and using interaction effects, this paper investigates the values of Chinese college students and explores the influencing factors of the change of national identity. This breaks through the limitation of separating the micro study and macro grasp of the change of values in the past, and achieves a certain degree of innovation in the combination of micro and macro levels of the study of values culture. The following four findings are made in this study:First, during the epidemic,Chinese college students’ sense of national identity was higher, and the sense of national identity was improved from the already high level.Second, the change of Chinese college students’ national identity is mainly realized through the dissemination and acceptance of the epidemic information, and the theory of "pseudo-environment" has been demonstrated to a certain extent.Thirdly, the influence of family economic status on national identity of Chinese college students is not found. The influence of economic factors emphasized by the theory of social vulnerability to disasters may not be directly applicable to Chinese society.Fourthly, the impact of viewing duration of the epidemic on the change of national identity is significantly different at university level. The mechanism of the influence of information dissemination and the change of values is affected by the stratification of colleges and universities. The higher the rank of colleges and universities, the more stable their students’sense of national identity, the less likely to change. |
