Time bank is a kind of non-monetized transaction behavior in which the non-specialized services for older adults, and service hours are credited to individual accounts and then exchange the hours for the same length of service when they need the services of others in the future. It has been developed for more than 20 years since the first pilot in Shanghai at the end of the last century, and there are about 180 time banks in China at present.Wuhan City started the pilot of time bank in 2013,and with the gradual accumulation of pilot experience, the time bank senior care model will be gradually extended to rural communities in 2022.So,are older people in rural communities willing to try this new model of senior care? What are the factors that affect the participation of rural elderly in time bank mutual care? Only by answering the above questions can we provide relevant basis and reference for the successful promotion of the time bank elderly care model in the future. This paper intends to use the rooting theory method to select six new rural communities, namely Weiji Village Community of Longquan Street,East Lake New Technology Development Zone,Wuhan City,Jiangwang Village Community of Longquan Street,East Lake New Technology Development Zone,Wuhan City,Wushucun Community of Jiangxia Economic Development Zone,Wuhan City,Miaoshan Village Community of Jiangxia Economic Development Zone,Wuhan City,Shihua Hong Village Community of Cihui Street,East-West Lake District,Wuhan City, and Xianjian Community of Hongshan Street,Hongshan District,Wuhan City,as the research In-depth interviews were conducted with the elderly in the above sample areas, followed by textual analysis of the interview contents and rooting coding using Nvivo to screen out the factors influencing rural elderly people’s participation in Time Bank mutual care, which are old-age concept,old-age mentality, physical condition, personality characteristics, volunteer spirit, party membership, peer influence, leisure time, material exchange, social needs, number of children. In turn,a theoretical model of the influencing factors is constructed.Subsequently,a questionnaire was designed based on the 23 influencing factors mentioned above, and finally the theoretical model was validated based on the research data.Except for party membership and children’s relationship, the remaining 21 influencing factors all clearly affect the motivation of the research respondents. The results of the empirical were basically consistent with the results of the rooting code,so the constructed model of influencing factors held true. Finally, three suggestions were made:1.change the traditional concept of old-age care from passive old-age care to self-aging and active old-age care;2.improve the level of community services and accelerate the construction of community time bank platform;3.strengthen the publicity and guidance on time bank mutual old-age care, enhance the credibility of the government and community, and encourage more party members and young volunteers to join as the time bank old-age care model gradually matures. |
