| Population aging has always been a hot issue.In 2000,China officially entered the ranks of countries with an aging society.The huge population base and the rapid growth of the elderly population have brought unprecedented challenges to China in a developing country.With the year-on-year extension of my country’s average life expectancy and the continuous improvement of medical level,the elderly still retain a high working ability after retirement,and the long-term accumulated experience,knowledge and technology have not disappeared.Therefore,promoting the work participation of the elderly can not only It is of great significance for the sustainable development of my country’s economy and society to tap the potential of the elderly’s human resources and reduce the social pension burden to a certain extent.The purpose of this paper is to use the 2018 baseline survey data in the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Survey(CHARLS)database from the perspective of active aging to explore the main factors affecting the work participation of the elderly from three aspects: individual,family and society.factor.The effects of 17 factors,including gender,on the work participation of the elderly were investigated.According to STATA’s analysis,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)Eight factors,including gender,marital status,type of residence,type of household registration,skills training,number of children,financial support for children,and annual personal income from work,have a significant positive impact on the work participation of the elderly;(2)Six factors,including age,education level,health status,receiving financial support from children,family financial assets and endowment insurance,have a significant negative impact on the work participation of the elderly;(3)Three factors,including living with children,taking care of grandchildren across generations,and medical insurance had no significant impact on the work participation of the elderly.In addition,this paper also conducts a classification study on age,gender,and urban and rural areas,and further explores the reasons for the differences in work participation among the elderly of different ages,genders,and residences:(1)The number of children,receiving financial support from children,taking care of grandchildren across generations,medical insurance and endowment insurance may be the reasons for the differences in work participation of the elderly in different age groups;(2)Accepting financial support for children,providing financial support for children,taking care of grandchildren across generations and medical insurance may be the reasons for the differences in work participation of elderly people of different genders;(3)Marital status,health status,whether living with children,receiving financial support from children,providing financial support for children,taking care of grandchildren across generations,medical insurance and endowment insurance may be the reasons for differences in the work participation of elderly people living in different urban and rural areas.Based on the above research conclusions,this paper focuses on the theory of active aging,takes participation,health and security as the basis for policy formulation and action,and draws the following inspirations from three levels of individual,family and society: First,open the channels for the participation of the elderly;second,pay attention to the labor health of the elderly;third,pay attention to the labor rights and interests of the elderly. |
