Under the increasingly serious global aging situation, the World Health Organization(WHO)proposed the concept of "active aging" in2002,which provides us with a new perspective to deal with the plight of the elderly in their later years. At present, the aging problem in China is not optimistic, the seventh national census data show that the population aged 60 and above is 264 million, accounting for 18.70% of China’s total population.147 million people aged 60 and above are in the lower age group of 60-69 years old, accounting for 55.83% of the total elderly population. From this,we can see that the lower-aged elderly account for more than half of the elderly population. How to give full play to the unique advantages of the lower-aged elderly to achieve a happy and active old age has become a hot topic of current social discussion.Guided by the theory of positive aging, this paper combines questionnaire method, interview method and participatory observation method to analyze the current situation and problems of low-age elderly volunteer service in X community of Wuhu City. These problems are highlighted in the following aspects: the overall low frequency of participation in volunteer services by the low-aged elderly volunteers;the unclear understanding of the nature of volunteer services by the low-aged elderly volunteers;the low knowledge of the regulations and rules related to volunteers by the low-aged elderly volunteers and the satisfaction of volunteer services to be improved. The author found that the causes of these problems are mainly the influence of social concept, the lack of training of community volunteers and the limitation of the elderly people’s own conditions.Based on the main problems of volunteer services for the low-aged elderly in Wuhu X community, the author designed and formulated a group work plan, invited nine low-aged elderly to participate in group activities, helped them acquire rich volunteer knowledge and skills through group activities, and let them apply the knowledge and skills they learned to practice and gain experience and confidence from them,so as to enhance their willingness to participate in volunteer services and further improve Their participation in community volunteerism is further enhanced.Through the process evaluation and the outcome evaluation,it was found that the group work could effectively increase the willingness of the younger older volunteers to participate in community volunteering, and the frequency of the group members’ participation in volunteering was significantly increased. However, there are some shortcomings, such as limited number of service members, insufficient involvement of external resources and insufficient experience of social workers. The author proposes the following suggestions: first,to broaden the service coverage;second,to link multiple resources to strengthen the intervention;third,to improve the working ability of social workers.Through this study, the author hopes to promote the further development of volunteer services for the low-aged elderly. |
