Maternal And Child Services And Women’s Fertility Intention

In recent years,the fertility intention of residents is getting lower and lower in China.In order to improve the willingness of residents to give birth,the state has adjusted the birth policy successively,and the local governments have also inssued a number of measures to encourage fertility.However,the outcome is not satisfactory.Because there is void of corresponding public service facilities.This paper uses the data of China Labor-force Dynamic Survey in 2014 and 2016,and China Industrial and Commercial Registration Enterprise Database to explore the influence of maternal and child services provided by enterprises on married women,who is at childbearing ages,by Poisson regression model.It is found that a higher supply level of urban maternal and child services helps to enhance women’s willingness to bear children,and after a series of robustness tests,the conclusion is still valid.In addition,the increase of maternal and child services can significantly improve the fertility intention of married women with relatively higher income,working in the non-stateowned,living in the city and those who are difficult to get inter-generational care.Moreover,we found that child care and preschool education have relatively strong positive effect on married women of childbearing age,and the affect of maternal and child health care needs to be further verified.Also,high-quality maternal and child services can effectively improved married women’s fertility intention.The conclusions of this study have important implications for promoting maternal and child health care,infant care and pre-school education services.The maternal and child services are provided by enterprises in this paper,which has a significant role in promoting fertility intention.If we can provide the public maternal and child services which have generally benefic,and encourage local governments to take government subsidies,industry guidance,standardized management and other ways to further strengthen the inclusive nature of enterprise maternal and child services.Then the influence of maternal and child services for women,who is at childbearing ages,will be expanded.
