A Post-Editing Report On The Chinese Translation Of Investigation Report On The Allision Of NORTHSEA RATIONAL

The report takes the Investigation Report on the Allision of NORTHSEA RATIONAL written by Federal Bureau of Maritime Casualty Investigation as the research object,takes Catford’s translation transformation theory as the guidance,and adopts the research methods of theory orientation,literature reading and case analysis.The author finds that the core problem of machine translation lies in the following three aspects: at the lexical level,there are the translation errors of proper nouns and wrong diction;at the syntactic level,there are problems such as logical confusion and wrong word order;at the non-literal level,there are some problems such as the stiff translation of numbers and the disorderly translation of symbols,etc.To solve the problems of machine translation at different levels,the author mainly employs the translation methods such as part of speech conversion,context selection,logic manifestation,word order reorganization,number reduction,symbol conversion,etc.,so as to make the translation more normative and professional,and improve the quality of the translation.In doing so,this translation practice report can provide effective reference for the Chinese translation of relevant texts.
