A Post-editing Report On The English-Chinese Translation Of "A Report On The Investigation Of The Collision Of The Container Vessel ANL Wyong"

With the rapid development of artificial intelligence,machine translation is constantly improving,which can effectively improve the efficiency of translation,reduce the cost of translation,and promote the further development of the language service industry.However,compared with manual translation,the current machine translation technology still has some defects,which requires post editing to improve the quality of translation.This post-editing report analyzes the problems in the process of machine translation of Report on the investigation of the collision between the container vessel ANL Wyong and the gas carrier King Arthur in the approaches to Algeciras,Spain that involve the clearance of the at the textual level;the wrong translation of terms,the wrong choice of part of speech,the improper collocation of verb and object at the lexical level;the inflexible word order,the unadjusted passive voice,the lack of components,the unclear pronoun reference at the syntactic level,etc.In view of the above problems,the author proposes the effective strategies including the pretreatment of the machine translation,the establishment of terminology database;the diction according to the context;the reference to authoritative websites;the voice conversion;the word order adjustment,etc.The post editing report gives the representative examples for the theoretical research on the types of machine translation errors and post-editing strategies.It also provides a reliable source of reference for post editors.
