| The report takes Hazardous Liquid Pipeline Strike and Subsequent Explosion and Fire aboard Dredging Vessel Waymon Boyd issued by the National Transportation Safety Board(NTSB)as the object of study.During the translation process,the author applies Christian Nord’s translation theory,adopts the research methods of literature research,case study and inductive thinking with the platform of translation technology to finish the text translation and build the translation memory and term base.In view of the lexical,syntactic and discourse problems in the translation process,the author gives specific translation methods at different research levels,taking into account the text’s referential function and its stylistic characteristics.At the lexical level,the methods of following tradition,tracing etymology,contextual selection and library construction are mainly adopted;at the level of syntax,the methods of morphological conversion,sequential reorganization and omitting compensation are mainly employed;at the level of discourse,the methods of denotative reduction and logical manifestation are mainly used to make the translation accurate and standardized,and easy to be understood by readers.Finally,the author hopes the translation practice report can provide reference for English-Chinese translation of related texts. |
