A Comparative Study On Metrological Style Of Zhang Ailing And Wang Anyi’s Novels

Both Zhang Ailing and Wang Anyi are "Shanghai female writers".In the academic circle,there has been a saying of "Zhang School successor" and "Zhang Wang contention".Using quantitative method to make quantitative statistical analysis of the works can objectively reflect the language usage habits and stylistic tendencies of different writers.Therefore,this paper mainly uses the research method of metrology styleology to conduct quantitative descriptive statistics and inferential statistics analysis on the representative works of the two writers,and carries out hypothesis test on the results,so as to compare the differences and similarities of the language styles of the two writers in the main representative works.The first chapter is the introduction.It is divided into three parts: one is to clarify the research significance;The second is to sort out the research status of metrology style at home and abroad;Third,it explains the preprocessing of the text corpus and the establishment of the two authors’ works corpus.The second chapter is the comparison of lexical styles.The statistical analysis is mainly conducted from four aspects: lexical length,lexical richness,special lexical categories and special lexical items,and appropriate language feature items are selected respectively for descriptive statistics,so as to clarify the stylistic characteristics of the two in terms of lexical style.Chapter three is the analysis of sentence style.The main clause length,sentence type,sentence pattern and sentence length dispersion and fragmentation are analyzed.Through the measurement and statistics of sentences,paragraphs,sentence types,sentence patterns,punctuation and other aspects,the similarities and differences between the two writers in the overall style of their works.The fourth chapter is the analysis of emotional tendency.This chapter firstly introduces the common text sentiment analysis methods and selects the sentiment dictionary method based on the actual situation of this paper.Then it uses this method to carry out the statistical analysis of the semantic rhyme of the two writers’ works.Finally,the Chi-square test is carried out on the results,and the results show that there are significant differences in the distribution of the semantic rhyme of the two writers.Chapter five is text cluster analysis.Firstly,several different text clustering methods and their advantages and disadvantages are introduced.Then,the feature items with significant differences selected by the hypothesis test are taken as the variables of clustering to cluster the works of two writers.The results show that three novels of Zhang Ailing and three novels of Wang Anyi are grouped into one category.It is proved that systematic clustering can effectively distinguish the language styles of two writers.Chapter six is the summary of the full text.This chapter mainly summarizes the above chapters,and points out the shortcomings and prospects of this paper.
