| The rapid development of science and technology has made the ways of learning Chinese for African students constantly updated. However,in the process of the Chinese as a Foreign Language project following the pace of the times,we cannot ignore the role of the internal learning mechanism of African students, especially the role of their Chinese learning efficacy and independent learning ability. In addition to receiving Chinese language knowledge in the classroom,African students also need to bring into play their Chinese learning efficacy and independent learning ability, and take the initiative to learn and acquire Chinese language knowledge outside the classroom.Learning efficacy refers to learners’ subjective perception and evaluation of the skills they adopt and their ability to complete learning tasks in the learning process;self-directed learning ability refers to learners’ ability to actively regulate their own learning behaviors and learning process.Domestic and international research on learning efficacy and self-directed learning ability is mainly focused on teaching English as a second language, but less on teaching Chinese as a second language.Domestic research on the relationship between learning efficacy and self-directed learning ability has been concentrated in the fields of physics, chemistry, and English. Therefore, the focus of this study shifts to the field of teaching Chinese as a second language, focusing on the study of Chinese learning efficacy and self-directed learning ability of African students, analyzing the overall level of Chinese learning efficacy and self-directed learning ability of African students, exploring the correlation and influence between Chinese learning efficacy and self-directed learning ability, and proposing teaching strategies to enhance Chinese learning efficacy and self-directed learning ability of African students based on this study. The study also proposes teaching strategies to enhance the Chinese language learning efficacy and independent learning ability of African students,so as to help African students better develop their autonomy in learning Chinese. In this study,95 questionnaires were collected from African students and 10 African students were interviewed. Conclusions were drawn by compiling and analyzing the collected questionnaire data and interview data. The results of the study show that(1)the overall level of Chinese learning efficacy and independent learning ability of African students is relatively high.(2)There are no significant differences in the Chinese learning efficacy and independent learning ability of African students in terms of their gender, age, length of Chinese learning and Chinese language level, but there are significant differences in the Chinese listening and speaking efficacy of African students in terms of Chinese language level.(3)There is a significant moderate positive correlation between African students’ Chinese learning efficacy and independent learning ability.(4)There is a significant positive relationship between African students’ Chinese learning efficacy and independent learning ability.(5)The dimension of "positive self-prediction" has the most significant effect on the self-directed learning ability of African students.Based on the results of this study, the author proposes corresponding strategies to enhance African students’ sense of efficacy in Chinese language learning, expecting to help African students better develop their independent learning ability:(1)enhancing the successful experience of Chinese learning for African students;(2)setting up a suitable role model for Chinese learning;(3)playing the role of verbal persuasion to enhance efficacy;(4)paying attention to the emotional state of African students. |
