Research On Nonlinear Narrative Book Design Under Multi-Dimensional Experience

In the new era of diversified reading,people no longer just seek to absorb knowledge and information when reading paper books,but also pay more attention to the experience and process of reading,in order to achieve the unity of mind and spirit in reading through viewing and touching.From ancient times to the present,from’bookbinding’ to ’cover design’ and now ’book design’,people’s thinking about book design has changed from a single plane to a multidimensional one.More and more book designers are focusing on the holistic nature of book design,on the choice of editorial thinking and narrative,and on the reader’s reading experience.This article introduces the concept of non-linear narrative in visual narrative to book design,combing the development of narratology and the non-linear structure in textual and visual narrative,and gradually extending the research to book design.The book design method is based on the non-linear narrative of multidimensional experience,and the application of the concept of non-linear narrative and the presentation of multidimensional experience is verified in the practice of the book design of Taotaogugu.The design experimentation of the non-linear representation of the medium and visual symbols in Taotaogugu is summarised in the study,with shortcomings and perspectives.The subject uses documentary analysis,summarisation and practical research to study and summarise the holistic thinking of book design,providing a theoretical basis and practical experience for the future application of non-linear narratives in book design.The book design will be made more attractive in response to the diversified reading styles.
