In the context of the internet and the experience economy,museums need to reevaluate their traditional role as information and knowledge institutions,and find ways to attract a larger and more diverse group of audiences and to stimulate their enthusiasm and initiative on a deeper level,while ensuring their own authenticity,in order to make the most of their social education and cultural dissemination functions.The gamification of public education in museums is a viable path for museums to expand their user base.The aim of this paper is to explore how gamification can be better applied to museum public education in order to develop interactive models that are both knowledgeable and fun.The paper begins with an overview of the development and properties of the two research objects,’gamification’ and ’public education’,which leads to the conclusion that gamification is relevant to museum public education,and that ’museums need to be gamified’.This is the premise of the study.This is followed by further evidence on the value of gamification for the development of museum public education from the perspectives of psychology,pedagogy and communication.The author then summarises the current situation of the specific application of gamification in exhibition interaction and interpretation,educational activities and other public activities,as well as its problems,through literature research and analysis of his own practice cases,and summarises two application models of structural gamification and content gamification and their respective application scenarios in response to these problems and challenges,and concludes the study by outlining a The study concludes by outlining a more general design framework for the application of gamification in museum public education.The application of gamification is not an easy task,but it is certainly a very promising tool for encouraging participation,and unlocking its full potential in museum public education will require the concerted efforts of future researchers and practitioners.
