Abstract/Summary:
Heterophony is a kind of polyphonic music texture form that exists throughout the world but is mainly embodied in Asian music. It has a long history in Asian music culture and has different styles in various types of ethnic music in multiple countries. It is one of the representatives of Asian polyphonic music forms, with a strong Asian flavor. At a time when the traditional principles of composition in the West are gradually being broken,Western composers have conducted various experimental explorations, and a group of Asian composers represented by the four composers selected in this article: Yin Yisang,Qin Wenchen,Akira Nishimura, and Toshio Hosokawa, have chosen the timbre as a carrier of their innovation in the fertile soil of their own musical culture.Heterophony, with its unique Asian style, embodies a sound effect different from traditional tonal harmony and polyphonic counterpoint, and embodies oriental values and worldviews in music, demonstrating oriental aesthetics to the world.Starting from the vocal music itself, this study began with a study of the works of four composers, examining musical phenomena from a perspective that transcends music, and ultimately returning to music, drawing enlightening insights into the development of music.
