Chen Hongshou is a comprehensive artist who is good at people,landscapes,flowers and birds,and his ancient and bizarre figure paintings have always occupied an important position in the history of painting,relatively few people pay special attention to his flower and bird paintings,and even fewer take out the "flowers and stones" themes in his flower and bird paintings for special study and discussion.But in essence,among Chen Hongshou’s large stock of flower and bird paintings,the theme of "flowers and stones" accounts for a large proportion,and it is very systematic,and the ideas expressed are also rich,which is worthy of our in-depth study and research.Therefore,by tracing the emergence and development of the theme of "flowers and stones" in flower and bird paintings,this paper reviews the "flowers and stones" theme works in Chen Hongshou’s flower and bird paintings,analyzes the layout,color and aesthetic expression of these works,summarizes the reasons and characteristics of the development of flower and stone theme flower and bird paintings to the late Ming Dynasty from the background of the times,and then discusses the inspiration of Chen Hongshou’s works on the theme of "flowers and stones" in Chen Hongshou flower and bird paintings.The highest value of art as a form of expression is the thoughts and emotions in the artwork,so the focus of the discussion is the analysis of Chen Hongshou’s "Flower and Stone" theme flower and bird paintings,through the classification of works and the interpretation of works to analyze Chen Hongshou’s creative process,close to Chen Hongshou’s creation of this theme of flower and bird paintings of this theme of thought and emotional expression.
