Causes Of Misinterpretation And Omission In Arabic-chinese Consecutive Interpreting And Coping Strategies

In consecutive interpreting,the accuracy and completeness of information are the criteria for measuring the quality of the target language.In real situation,when a speaker speaks,the interpreter needs to complete listening and analysis the information of the source language and take notes in order to output target language well.If there is a problem with listening and analysis or taking notes,it will lead to a problem of mistranslation and omission of interpretation.Based on 2016 Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed’s "Vision 2030" Press Conference,this paper will analyze the causes of mistranslation and omission in ARABIC-CHINESE consecutive interpretation,and give corresponding countermeasures.First of all,the author defines mistranslation and omission in ARABIC-CHINESE consecutive interpretation which is based on the researches in the field of interpreting and his own practice.According to the analysis of the Effort Model put forward by Daniel Gile,the author analyzes mistranslation and omission due to errors and omissions in the "listening and analysis and note-taking".Secondly,the author introduces the case of this paper and counts the occurrences of mistranslation and omission in the target language.Afterwards,based on specific cases,the author analyzes the causes of mistranslation and omission in the case from the two aspects of "listening and analysis" and "note-taking".Finally,based on above causes,the author gives practical strategies.In response to the problems in "listening and analysis",the author gives three countermeasures: enhance ability to analyze long difficult sentences,enhance Arabic numerals interpretation exercises,and enrich knowledge.In response to the problems in "note-taking",the author gives two countermeasures:highlight logical structure of notes and standardize note symbols.
