The Translation Of Chinese Political Texts To English

As China’s national strength has increased in recent years,the international community is eager for a fuller picture of China,and the Chinese government has given great attention to enhancing its international communication capacity.In this context,translators working on Chinese publicity materials need to improve their way of telling the China story by taking the acceptance of target readers with different cultural backgrounds into consideration.Although the translation of Chinese political texts is no longer a fresh topic to many,a few issues remain to be researched and solved in this regard,such as how to achieve the publicity purpose in international communication while delivering the message in Chinese accurately.Based on a case study of a Chinese-English translation project — Footsteps of a Trailblazer,the thesis firstly identifies three types of challenges in delivering the original message of Chinese political texts by giving examples,and then analyses the reasons for such challenges in detail.Combining her own theoretical knowledge and practical experience,in the final chapter,the author tentatively provides corresponding solutions for the challenges above.Through this study,the author hopes to provide some reference for other translators in translating similar texts,and to contribute to the research on translations of Chinese political texts.
