As the internationalization of China’s higher education is gaining momentum in recent years, international publicity translation for China’s higher education has become an important gateway to the showcase of China’s University.This report is based on the Chinese-English translation of publicity materials from the nursing school of Shanghai Sipo Polytechnic. By reviewing and analyzing the translation process as well as representative cases, this report explores the translation strategies for publicity-oriented C/E translation, the differences between Chinese and English and the characteristics of each language, the techniques adopted in translating words and phrases, sentences and paragraphs, and the means to avoid Chinglish by using native speakers’ feedback, so as to ensure a positive communication effect.This report reveals that for the success of translation, a proper and accurate transfer of the original information is the prerequisite, a natural shift of the two languages is the pivot and an idiomatic rendering of words and phrases is the key. It is hoped that this report offers some referential value for the translation of publicity materials of similar types.
