| With the increasing trend of international Chinese language teaching moving from offline to online in recent years,the teaching of Chinese characters has been challenged.Therefore,it is the starting point of this study to identify the problem of teachers’ inability to write effectively and the lack of ’character sense’ of beginners in online Chinese character teaching,especially the learners from non-Chinese character cultural circle have much more problems.A questionnaire and interviews were used to verify the prevalence of the problem and to find out more about the problems and needs of online Chinese character teaching.On this basis,some suggestions of current online Chinese character teaching for beginners are proposed based on socio-cultural and multimodal teaching theories.This is followed by a pedagogical design to provide an online Chinese character teaching solution for beginner Chinese learners from nonChinese character cultural circle.Starting from that above,research status and theoretical basis of the topic selection,this paper analyzes the problems and needs of online Chinese character teaching from several perspectives through questionnaires and interviews,including the problems of Chinese character ontology,online Chinese character learning needs,and online Chinese character teaching.Among of them,online Chinese character learning needs include learning content,classroom interaction,and learning tools.Online Chinese character teaching includes three aspects: teachers’ online teaching attitudes,the use of online teaching tools,and the use of online teaching methods.Among of them,online Chinese character learning needs include learning content,classroom interaction,and learning tools.And online Chinese character teaching includes teachers’ online teaching attitude,the use of online teaching tools,and the use of online teaching methods.In addition,based on the results of the survey and analysis,a suggestion of online Chinese character teaching for beginner Chinese learners from non-Chinese character cultural circle is proposed in this study.On the one hand,the study suggests the use and improvement of existing Chinese character teaching software,and on the other hand,it suggests teaching methods and strategies.By comparing and analyzing the common online Chinese character teaching tools,the advantages and disadvantages are summarized,and the features of online Chinese character teaching software that meet the needs of learners and teachers are proposed.Among of the teaching methods and strategies,three areas are proposed to strengthen word sense development,enhance classroom interaction,and provide stage feedback.Finally,we provide a detailed description of the implementation process of online Chinese character teaching through a one-class teaching design.The whole process is divided into three stages: multimodal initial Chinese character recognition stage,interactive drill and reinforcement stage,and summary of improving the effect stage.The first stage is the initial learning of Chinese characters,which includes the understanding of Chinese character theory,writing demonstration,Chinese character tracing and part expansion,all interactions are carried out through human-machine and the system provides timely feedback.The second stage is the reinforcement stage,which includes the reading and recognition of character meanings,stroke puzzles,Chinese character finding games,and contextual Chinese character recognition games to consolidate students’ learning effect.In the third stage,the teacher uses the software to see the students’ correct rate of practice,their error sets and writing records.The teacher can also see the overall learning situation of the class.Students can see their own practice,such as the correct rate,error sets,and writing records.The three stages are progressive,with a view to continuously improving students’ Chinese character skills. |
