Strategies Of English-chinese Simultaneous Interpretation In Product Release Conferences From A Multi-modal Perspective

In recent years,science and technology has accelerated the development of digital products.In this context,the press conference has become a medium for big brands to publicize their own products,and it is also a way to inform the public about the brand.It has a positive impact on the interpretation of the development of science and technology and social progress,and is becoming increasingly important.This practice of simulated simultaneous English-Chinese simultaneous interpretation is based on the online conference on the new Samsung Galaxy S22 series products broadcast by Engadget,a world-renowned digital product technology website.The entire online conference was broadcast for 2 hours and 27 minutes,and included eleven speakers.The products were presented in a variety of ways such as remote connection,video insertion,animation demonstration,live practice,gestures,music and so on.Therefore,the proper communication of this multimodal information in the process of interpretation is very important.In addition,conference transmission is off-site,real-time,and highly professional,which has a great impact on the interpreter’s target language output.In interpreting,the interpreter adopts multimodal means to understand these technical terms by analyzing examples,and some interpreting strategies such as appropriate addition,linguistic and information reorganization are summarized to overcome the cognitive load caused by multimodal information,thus improving the interpreting efficiency and effect.This practice report is divided into four parts: task description,task process,case analysis and practice summary.The interpreter expects it to explore English-Chinese scientific interpretation strategies from the perspective of multi-modality,enriches the relevant interpreting experiences,and provides guidance for future interpreting practice.It is hoped that this practice report can help other interpreters in choosing multimodal interpretation strategies,and also provide methodological reference for similar interpretation practices.The interpreter expects the practice report can help more interpretation learners have a deeper understanding of the methodology of technical terms in the process of interpretation practices.
