Research On Adaptation Of Characters In Edda From The Perspective Of Defamiliarization

As the original text carrier of Norse mythology,the characters created by Edda have transcended their original mythological images,and have been constantly rewritten and adapted in the fields of movies and video games,and have undergone many changes in artistic form.With the progress of science and technology,the iterative updating of artistic creation techniques,and the increasing integration of classical texts and contemporary art media,the characters in Edda spread and continue rapidly in the digital art environment.In particular,the promotion of defamiliarization provides a new perspective for the transformation of the characters in Edda.This research objects are the films and video games adapted from Edda,which are representative in this field.From the perspective of defamiliarization theory,this research analyzes the adaptation of the characters in the works of Edda,and on this basis,summarizes the aesthetic value brought about by the defamiliarization of the characters in Edda.This research mainly discusses the characters of Edda from the perspective of defamiliarization in four parts: First of all,it expounds the defamiliarization performance of the theme of Edda in three aspects of background setting,character image and theme implication.Secondly,according to the theory of defamiliarization,this research analyzes the character image of Edda in The Lord of the Rings series and Marvel series,and explores the artistic value of defamiliarization in the film works.Thirdly,by using the theory of defamiliarization,this research analyzes the characters of Edda in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and the new series of God of War in detail,and explains the significance of the use of Edda in video games from the perspective of defamiliarization.Finally,it summarizes the motivation of the defamiliarization of the characters in Edda,the aesthetic value and the enlightenment brought by this phenomenon.The characters in Edda have different aesthetic styles in the contemporary era through the processing of different artistic forms with the artistic technique of defamiliarization,which makes it still have strong artistic vitality and influence.
