At present,junior high school English teaching faces many difficulties,such as students’ low interest in English learning,large differences in learning ability,and teachers’ difficulty in meeting the needs of students at different levels.In order to solve these problems,schools in various regions actively try to reform the teaching form,among which stratified teaching is regarded as a potential teaching organization form.In English reading teaching,stratified teaching can fully reflect the dominant position of students,and carry out corresponding teaching activities according to the actual situation of students,so that all students can enjoy a fair opportunity to learn English.However,in the actual implementation process,stratified teaching also faces many management problems,such as how to formulate stratified standards scientifically,how to ensure the quality of teaching and so on.Therefore,researchers need to conduct in-depth research from the perspective of teaching management,find out the role and common problems of stratified teaching in English reading teaching,and formulate feasible solutions,so that stratified teaching can effectively promote junior middle school English learning and personal growth.Based on the theory of zone of proximal development,the optimization theory of teaching and the theory of mastering learning,this study takes 80 students of Grade two in Guandu District No.6 Middle School of Kunming City,Yunnan Province as the research objects.By using the method of experiment,questionnaire survey and classroom observation,it aims to explore how stratified English reading teaching will affect students’ interest in English reading and reading habits.And the differences in reading achievement and reading strategies of students at different levels,so as to confirm the effectiveness of stratified English reading teaching,and provide reference for the corresponding education and teaching practice.The teaching experiment of this study found that: first,carrying out stratified English reading teaching in grade two can further improve the teaching quality,obviously promote students to maintain good learning interest and improve reading grades;Second,stratified reading teaching can help students form good reading habits and develop feasible reading strategies.Therefore,it is possible to promote stratified teaching in junior middle school English reading classroom teaching to solve some of the difficulties faced by relevant teaching activities.
