| English reading is an important part of English learning in junior middle school,and it is one of the main input skills in English learning.How to improve students’ reading ability has always been the focus of research,and the research on reading teaching methods is enduring.However,due to the existence of many differences,the research results have different effects on improving the reading ability of different groups of students.In view of the fact that the English proficiency of the students in our school is quite different,this study aims to explore the use of stratified teaching in junior high school English reading teaching,taking into account the needs of the students at different levels and to explore the positive impact on the students’ reading ability.This study sets two parallel classes in Grade Eight in Experiential Middle School Donghe District of Hohhot in Inner Mongolia as the research subjects.The stratified teaching is adopted in experimental class.The students in experimental class are divided into three groups(Group A,Group B,Group C)according to their different English reading levels,and conducted the experiment which lasts for a term.The purpose of the research is to answer three research questions: 1.Can students’ interest in English reading be improved by applying stratified teaching in junior high school English teaching? 2.Can the reading ability of students on different-level be improved by applying stratified teaching? 3.Which group is affected most in improving the abilities of English reading by applying stratified teaching?To conduct the experiment effectively,this study adopts the questionnaire method,the interview method and the experimental method as well as the questionnaire,the test and the interview as the research tools.The results of research show that the stratified teaching has a positive effect on the change of students’ learning interest;the reading level of students from different groups has been improved;the reading level of low-level students(Group C)has been improved most.Therefore,the stratified teaching can take into account the individual differences of students and has a positive impact on different level students’ English reading. |
