With the rapid development of China’s economy and culture, the number of Chinese learners is increasing year by year, and many foreigners are highly motivated to learn Chinese. The purpose of learning Chinese for foreigners is to improve their ability to use Chinese as a language for communication. The ability to switch to another language is one of the most important indicators of the level of oral communication of Chinese learners, and in the course of oral communication training, conversation inevitably involves the issue of wheel switching. How to acquire a discourse wheel, how to maintain it and how to abandon it,and how to reflect the discourse wheel shift in the teaching materials for speaking Chinese as a foreign language are all questions that need to be studied. The introductory section introduces the object of this paper, the purpose of the study, the significance of the study,a review of domestic and international research and the corresponding theoretical foundations. In the main part of the paper, the specific types of discourse wheel conversion in the three sets of seven Spoken Chinese textbooks for intermediate speakers and the corpus obtained from the transcription of videos and audios of multi-person conversations in daily life and on the Internet using specific symbols are counted and classified from three aspects:acquisition of discourse wheels, retention of discourse wheels and abandonment of discourse wheels. The textbooks are then compared and the similarities and differences are identified, and the strengths and weaknesses of the existing intermediate speaking Chinese textbooks are summarized. Finally,we propose suggestions for the writing of oral Chinese textbooks and teachers’ classroom teaching in view of the shortcomings of the current textbooks in the area of turn-taking.The conversations in the textbooks are written according to certain requirements, focusing on vocabulary and grammatical points, retaining to a certain extent the characteristics of conversations in real communication, while at the same time differing from those in real oral communication in Chinese. The purpose of this paper is to compare and explain the similarities and differences between them, analyse the strengths and weaknesses of the existing textbooks in the area of turn-taking,and make further suggestions for the development and use of teaching materials for spoken Chinese.Through the analysis, this paper aims to enrich the research on the use of discourse wheel conversion in the writing and use of Chinese as a foreign language teaching materials,to make up for the lack of research on the communicative nature of Chinese as a foreign language teaching materials,to improve the practicality and scientificity of Chinese as a foreign language teaching materials, and to contribute to the exploration and development of how to use teaching materials more scientifically in Chinese as a foreign language class. |
