| As China attaches great importance to the construction of international communication power,it is increasingly significant to present compelling China stories and enhance the soft power of Chinese culture.This thesis is a C-E translation practice report,the source text of which is Red Spirit in the Land of Heroes.Created and published by the Education Center of Hunan Provincial Museum,the commentary introduces the history and great achievements of the Communist Party of China.At first,the author introduces the background,purposes and significance,and the structure of the report.Then the author describes the process of the translation.In the preparation before translation,the author analyzes the features of museum commentaries and red revolutionary texts,and reads relevant parallel texts such as English museum commentaries and Chinese political texts.The operation of translation includes the comprehension and restructuring of source text and the representation of restructured text.After translation,the author constantly revises and proofreads the target text.In order to make it easier to translate,the source text is restructured before translation.The author respectively takes the solutions of adding background information,deleting redundant information and adapting the verses.The restructured text arouses English readers’ interests and improves the readability.In the process of translation,the author adopts the approaches of free translation,transliteration with annotation in translating the expressions with Chinese characteristics;in the translation of run-on sentences,the author adopts the strategies of reorganization and division;in the translation of red revolutionary poems,the author uses the strategy of literal translation.The report is concluded that due to the differences in text characteristics of Chinese and English commentaries,it is necessary to restructure the source text before translation.After the text restructuring,the translation can not only satisfy the thinking and reading habits of English readers,but also be conducive to spread Chinese culture. |
