A Report On The Translation Of Commentaries Of Heihe Educated Youth Museum(Excerpts)

The movement of educated youth going to and working in the countryside and mountain areas was an important event in New China's history.More than seventeen million educated youth made indelible contributions to the development of our country's frontier and rural areas.Heihe Educated Youth Museum is the biggest museum in China which shows the complete picture of educated youth's life.As a window to show the culture of a special historical period in China,Educated Youth Museum plays an irreplaceable role in promoting Chinese red tourism,international exchange and cultural diffusion.However,at present the English commentaries in the museum are still not complete.There are many mistakes in a few existing English commentaries,while most of the rest of Chinese commentaries have no corresponding English translation.Therefore,it has practical significance to complete the English commentaries in the museum for promoting educated youth culture and creating the cultural industry of educated youth.This paper is a Chinese-English translation practice report based on the excerpts of Commentaries of Heihe Educated Youth Museum in the lobby and the first to third exhibition halls.The retranslation and translation practice under the guidance of communicative translation theory is to meet the need of foreign visitors.This report discusses and analyzes the difficulties and solutions in translation practice through many case studies.Chapter one is the introduction to the translation task,including brief introduction to the client,brief introduction to the task and the client's requirements.Chapter two is the description of the translation process,including pre-translation preparation,translation process and post-translation management.Chapter three case study is the key part of this paper.The author analyzes the difficult points in the translation practice,expounding on three levels: lexical level,syntactic level and rhetorical level,and puts forward corresponding strategies in detail.Chapter four is the summary and enlightenments on the translation,in which the author summarizes the translation strategies used in this translation practice,and the enlightenments as well as the future prospects brought by them.This report aims to help Heihe Educated Youth Museum to attract more abroad tourists and provide some references for the translation studies of relevant tourism text.
