| In 2020,China had achieved the poverty alleviation target of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development 10 years ahead of schedule.Poverty alleviation is a challenge for all countries.Due to the COVID-19,the world population living in extreme poverty will exceed 1 billion in 2030.Therefore,China’s experience in poverty alleviation is of significance.This report is excerpted from a prose collection of“The Notes on China’s Poverty Alleviation”by a Female Leader.The collection was conferred as the 9th Bingxin Essay Nominee Award in 2021.This prose collection consists of 35 stories to illustrate the poverty alleviation.Through the translation,the author attempts to disseminate China’s alleviation experience to the world,especially to the developing countries.This report is written based on a C-E translation of informal prose.This report includes five parts.The first part mainly introduces the background and significance of the translation report.The second part is the analysis of the source text at lexical,syntactic and stylistic levels.The third part mainly introduces the translation process,including the pre-translation,production and revision.The fourth part is the case analysis at three levels.At the lexical level,the author attempts to employ English slang to translate the Shaanxi dialect.The author also employs the strategy of“transliteration plus annotation”to translate culture-loaded words,especially the names of the characters.At the syntactic level,the author adopts the“Three Beauties”to translate Shaanxi Opera,in which the author focuses more on the“Beauty in Sound”.The strategy of“splitting and reorganizing”is adopted at this level to translate the Chinese loose and long sentences.At the stylistic level,the author employs literal translation and free translation to translate the Chinese metaphors and personifications.The fifth part is the conclusion.The author concludes the translation strategies and her reflections of the whole process.It is hoped that this practice can provide some help to translators in this field in the future. |
