Different from the traditional academic master’s degree,MTI was created to initiate a professional training mode of translation, and to nurture applied translators and interpreters of high-level with solid expertise and specific knowledge. When the students majoring in MTI enter the university, the professional practice training of translation begins. In the course of study and practice, they approach different kinds of text, including the literary text, the academic text, the applied commercial texts. With different types and different genres, the texts are different from each other in their function and their destination realized by the translated text. The literary text emphasis on "the beauty",the academic text,"the truth",and the applied commercial text,"the use".The MTI degree and its training model have a practice-oriented characteristic, but all the practical activities should under the guidance of the theory. And according to the functional theory of translation, the translation is not a static linguistic phenomenon. It emphasis on the target language, reverse the authority the source language, and liberate the translators from the rut of the equivalence theory. It’s very suitable to guide the practice of the translators whose major is MTI.Therefore,we should "analyze specific texts in specific ways",choose suitable translation tactics and methods to deal with the texts to translate. This report is divided into four parts:The first chapter summarizes the functional theory of translation and the relative theory of texts to lay a theoretical foundation for the translation practice. The functional theory of translation focus on the communicative aim of translation,it combines tightly the attention paid to the function and the genre of a text and the analyses of its external factor,to fix the translation tactics and methods. Therefore,it’s very suitable for the translators and interpreters majoring in MTI.The second chapter analyzes some translation cases of literary text. The literature crunches the words, with creative, expressive and appreciati’ve characteristics, belonging to the category of art.So does its translation, and so does its translation.Based on the corresponding function of literary texts, this chapter tries to find the way to fix the tactics and the methods of translation,by the order "text-sentence-word".The third chapter analyzes some translation cases of applied commercial text. This kind of text emphasize its practical uses-no uses,no necessity of its existence. In this chapter, the functions and the characteristics are combined.Basing on some translation cases,I analyze several classic applied commercial texts, just like the contract, the regulations of company, the publicity brochure, the construction manual, and the installation maintenance manual of equipment,to present how to choose a better tactic or method for them. The last chapter is a conclusion. From the aspects of the subject consciousness of a translator, the skill consciousness of a professional translator, the translation position and tactic, and the general accomplishment,it gives some suggestions to regulate the behaviors of the translators and interpreters major:ing in MTI.Otherwise,it gives some suggestions to improve the teaching model for the students majoring in MTI according to my experience about the commercial translation and the situation on the translation market.
