Difficulties And Strategies In Translating Prose Style

The most important thing about creating a prose is to create its style, and the key totranslating a prose is to reproduce its style. Therefore, in the process of translation,translators should not only convey the information of the original text, but its style andcharm. Fidelity in style is reflected not only in words, but also in sentences, text structures,and tones of the source text—which means the target text should achieve the effect of“Spiritual Resemblance”. Given this factor, this report presents examples from thetranslated text of Here is New York to study how to translate prose style under the theory ofFunctional Equivalence. It analyses how to grasp the prose style and generalizes thetranslation strategies from the two levels of words and sentences. It is hoped that this reportcan provide a reference for future translation of similar prose.
