This thesis is a report of translation practice. The three source texts, covering the literary, artistic, and television series fields, are all selected from The New Yorker. The New Yorker is a comprehensive magazine published by Condé Nast Publications Inc,which covers news, literary criticism, prose, cartoons and poetry.Given that The New Yorker has no Chinese editions, many Chinese readers have trouble in reading the original text, and relevant studies on magazine translation are also insufficient, this translation practice can make up for this deficiency to a certain extent. This translation practice is of great significance to understand the American elite culture. It’s also meaningful to boost cross-cultural communication between China and foreign countries, and to promote the development of similar Chinese magazines. The author hopes that this translation project can help the target language readers understand the multicultural information of the source text and get the same reading feeling like the source language readers as far as possible. This translation practice report consists of four parts. The first part is the translation task, mainly expounds the background, significance and requirements of this translation practice. The second part is the translation process, including the source contents, preparations before translation task, translation theory and proofreading work. The third part is the main body of the report.Under the guidance of the equivalent translation theory, the author conducted case studies from the aspects of lexical and syntactic by using corresponding translation strategies and methods, including literal translation, free translation, addition and recombination. The last part is summary. The author reflected on the gain and loss in the translation process, the cohesion between theory and practice, and so on.
