Abstract/Summary:
Concentrated literacy refers to the learning of a certain number of basic Chinese characters at the initial stage of Chinese character learning,which is mostly not synchronised with the acquisition of vocabulary.Concentrated literacy can lay a solid foundation for in-depth learning of Chinese characters and Chinese language,but concentrated literacy cannot be synchronised with vocabulary teaching.From examining the existing teaching materials for the elementary level of Chinese as a foreign language,we find that they are mostly based on various syllabuses or word frequencies,and actually follow the "word" theory,which does not reflect the systematic structure of Chinese characters themselves.On the premise of not affecting the teaching of Chinese vocabulary and Chinese characters,and in order to optimise the effect of teaching Chinese characters at the elementary level,this thesis develops a teaching aid for concentrated literacy at the elementary level,independent of the teaching of vocabulary.The 100 basic characters were first selected according to four criteria: whether the components form characters,how often the components form characters,whether the constructed characters are commonly used,and how often the characters are used.According to the survey,these100 basic characters have fewer strokes,are simple and have a clear character form,and are mostly derived from ancient pictographs;with a high rate of word formation,prioritising the learning of these basic characters can achieve the effect of using less to overcome more and simplicity to overcome complexity,thus improving the efficiency of Chinese character learning.In order to enable students to master around 100 basic characters in as short a time as possible and to build a good foundation for learning Chinese characters,this thesis develops teaching materials for them,suggests the use of teaching materials from the perspective of teachers and students,carries out teaching design and attempts to interact between supplementary teaching materials and integrated lesson teaching.
