| In the process of developing an efficient high school English teaching classroom in our country,English reading teaching has played a vital role.Good English reading teaching can not only help students improve their English reading ability,but also cultivate students’ English writing ability and English speaking ability to a certain extent.However,in the current high school English reading class for the purpose of taking the test,there are many problems that cannot be ignored and need to be solved urgently.For example,teachers ignore the differences in students’ individual development and lack of explanation of reading comprehension skills.This kind of situation not only makes students’ interest in learning English fade,but also makes the quality of English teaching lagging behind for quite some time.Bloom’s theory of “Mastery Learning” means that teachers need to have confidence in all students and that all students can learn well;and based on the class teaching system,supplemented by frequent and timely feedback,help most students achieve all the goals of the course.Applying this theory to the practice of English reading teaching will be of great benefit to the development of English teaching in my country.However,at present,there are not many teaching cases using the “Mastery Learning”theory in English reading teaching in high schools in China.Most of the research on the“Mastery Learning” theory is limited to the theoretical level,and there is a lack of relevant research on its application to specific reading teaching practice.In this way,I took 40 students from the first class of the second year of a high school in Huaihua City as research objects,and used the questionnaire survey method,interview method and test method to apply the “Mastery learning” theory to the high school English reading teaching for a semester in the first class of senior two.The research in this paper attempts to explore the following questions:(1)How to apply the theory of “Mastery learning” to the teaching of English reading in senior high schools?(2)In what ways has the “Mastery Learning”theory improved students’ English reading ability? In order to explore the influence of“Mastery Learning” theory in high school English reading teaching,I will apply “Mastery Learning” theory to high school English reading teaching.Before class,I design a reading task list and teaching video so that students can preview independently and guide students in class.Students communicate in groups to help students answer questions and internalize knowledge.After class,students are required to complete reading tests and study reflections.Research shows that applying Bloom’s “Mastering Learning”theory to high school English reading teaching classrooms will not only help to improve students’ English reading level and students’ interest in learning English,but also help teachers update teaching concepts and master a variety of teaching strategies,thereby improving the quality of English reading classroom teaching. |
