Zhou Wu was one of the ancient printmaking scholars at the end of the 20 th century,and his research achievements were fruitful.He not only published a breakthrough theory on the history of printmaking,promoted the development of ancient printmaking history research to regional and thematic directions,but also collected and printed many classic atlases and monographs,and made bibliographic research on the history of ancient Chinese printmaking,with a large scale,which is of pioneering significance for a comprehensive understanding of the evolution of ancient printmaking art in the long history,Therefore,it is necessary to deeply explore the academic value and influence of his research on the history of ancient printmaking.But there was very little research on his ancient prints,most of them are concentrated in the Complete Works of Zhou Wu or in the recall articles of friends and students,lacking a complete and systematic in-depth study of them.In order to restore the historical contributions made by scholars of ancient printmaking in China to the history of ancient printmaking,and considering the feasibility of this article,this paper takes Zhou Wu as the research object,mainly from his life experience and academic background,the context of the theoretical research of ancient printmaking documents,the diversified exhibition,academic value and influence of ancient printmaking literature collation and writing,and pushes forward in-depth research layer by layer,in an attempt to comprehensively and accurately grasp the academic value and influence of Zhou Wu’s ancient printmaking literature collation research.On the one hand,through the study of Zhou Wu’s life experience,academic works,notes and letters,etc.,he can comprehensively appreciate his achievements in the historical construction of ancient printmaking,as well as the discourse system and spirit that contributed to the study of ancient Chinese printmaking art,which has pioneering value for the study of Zhou Wu’s academic achievements in ancient printmaking,and also has profound and important significance for comprehensively understanding the evolution of ancient printmaking art in the long history and the new appearance of modern context.On the other hand,the research on a series of activities made by Zhou Wu to protect and promote national cultural heritage,including book visits,publications,compilations,exhibitions,etc.,reflects his historical bibliographic research,regional thematic research,the influence of conscious thinking of printmaking creation and his contribution to the promotion of national culture,that is,he hopes to provide fresh vitality for the vigorous development of contemporary printmaking art,so that the new Hui school printmaking art will produce nationalization,epochal significance and cherish the new face in the torrent of the fusion and collision of Chinese and Western art.From the perspective of art criticism,through the search and reading of original materials and the analysis of a large number of data,such as Zhou Wu’s own writings and research on ancient printmaking,as well as the overall grasp of the history of printmaking in different periods,this paper comprehensively considers the existing materials and the actual situation from multiple disciplines and perspectives,so that the effectiveness of the conclusions of the paper can be enhanced.
