A Study Of Chu Teh-Chun’s Oil Painting Style

Chu Teh-chun is a famous contemporary Chinese oil painter of Anhui origin and the first Chinese-American academician of the French Academy of Fine Arts.He applied traditional Chinese culture and way of thinking to his oil paintings,and successfully created a number of paintings that blend East and West,showing unique beauty of form and context,becoming a model of painting art that blends East and West since the 20 th century,and has guided the development of modern Chinese painting.Chu Teh-chun’s early painting style was infused by traditional Chinese culture and the traditional painting style of the Longcheng School of Xiao County,and later influenced by Western modern art such as France,thus exploring a unique painting style that blends Chinese and Western cultures.The article looks at Chu Teh-chun’s oil paintings from a cross-cultural perspective.Firstly,it analyzes Chu Teh-chun’s exploration of the language and formal elements of painting from three levels: the selection and integration of media materials,the composition of line,light,and composition,and his creative personality;secondly,it discusses the characteristics of Chu Teh-chun’s oil painting creation based on the early,middle,and late periods of creation,and draws three stylistic characteristics of his painting creation: figurative,abstract,and imaginative.Third,from the latitude of influence and significance,we analyze the influence of Chu Teh-chun’s oil painting style on the exchange of Chinese and Western art and culture,the modern transformation of Chinese art spirit,and the cross-section of art and art support;from the level of integration of Chinese and Western,cultural consciousness and cultural identity,we elaborate the significance of Chu Teh-chun’s style form.The significance of Chu Teh-chun’s stylistic forms,thus analyzing the necessity of research on Chu Teh-chun’s oil painting creation style;the article as a whole reveals the historical significance and artistic value of the evolution of his oil painting creation style combined with the times through analyzing the mutual interpretation of Chinese and Western art exchanges in Chu Teh-chun’s art life under the cross-cultural perspective,and the guiding significance and contemporary inspiration for the promotion of Chinese and Western cultural exchanges,the development of Chinese oil painting and the creation of art in the new era.
