On The Western Painting Elements In Lin Fengmian's Color And Ink Landscapes

As a pioneer of modern Chinese painting in the early twentieth century,Lin Fengmian skilfully combined the expressive and aesthetic styles of Chinese and Western art.In the long-standing artistic climate of "imitation of the past",Lin Fengmian did not follow the crowd,but always adhered to his own artistic philosophy,inheriting the traditional classics,but daring to innovate by learning from the past.Lin Fengmian created a unique form of landscape expression in colour and ink by blending Eastern and Western painting,exploring multiple paths for the modern expression of Chinese painting.This study focuses on the elements of Western painting in Lin Fengmian's colour-ink landscapes and their influence on my personal creation.Firstly,it analyses the elements of Western painting that influenced Lin Fengmian's colour-ink landscape style.Under the influence of Western modernist art,Lin Fengmian selectively applied the expressive techniques of Western modernist painting to Chinese landscape painting.Secondly,the causes of Lin Fengmian's colour and ink landscape painting style are explored.Again,his artistic contributions and influence on contemporary landscape painters are summarised.Finally,the significance of the study of Lin Fengmian's coloured-ink landscapes to his personal creative practice is illustrated through his graduation work,the series Impressions of Southern Anhui.With his own artistic training and practice,Lin Fengmian shows us that we should maintain a passionate heart for artistic creation and work towards enriching the traditional art of Chinese painting.Studying the coloured-ink landscapes created by Lin Fengmian and exploring the artistic treasures he brought to us is conducive to cultivating a unique mode of artistic thinking,stimulating one's artistic creativity,increasing one's enthusiasm and courage to create in the painting business,and at the same time,finding a path to enrich one's landscape painting creation.
