As society progresses and opens up so radically,the systems of open educational resources and digital learning have been continuously updated and improved.International continuing education ushered in new opportunities.More and more working adults can access to high-quality overseas education without going abroad.However,in the short term,most students are not able to improve their foreign language level to the degree of having classes in English.Class interpreting appears thereby,helping students overcome language barriers and finish their studies.This report is written based on the materials of a class interpreting the author conducted for students of engineering management major in a Sino-Filipino joint continuing education project in September 2022.This class interpreting features a strong accent of the speaker,long speech and professional content.From the perspective of Interpretive Theory,the author analyzes the application of interpreting strategies,methods and techniques with specific cases.First,when inputting information,the author adopts the methods of segmenting information chunk,extracting the main content and actively processing the information to help make better de-verbalization and understanding of the source language.The interpreter needs to figure out the logic and structure of the speech.Second,as for the output process,the author adopts the techniques of adaptation and sentence restructuring to improve the quality of expression.Adaptation here refers to add,omit or even adapt some information according to the context,or convert the part of speech of words,or restructure sentences to reach the audience and deliver better results.Through reviewing and analyzing this practice,the author deepens her understanding of Interpretive Theory,enriches the knowledge of engineering management and accumulates interpreting experiences.Hopefully,the report could offer reference to other interpreters and to the study of class interpreting.
