| Idiomatic phrases have a long history and are characterized by two major features:structural stereotypes and semantic integration,which make it impossible for people to replace components or change the structure at will in the process of using them.Moreover,Idiomatic phrases have strong ideographic and rhetorical effects and contain deep cultural connotations.These characteristics of Idiomatic phrases make it difficult for students to understand them from their surface meanings,let alone to use them appropriately for communication.Teaching Idiomatic phrases is one of the difficulties in international Chinese teaching,so we should pay more attention to them in Chinese teaching.As the basis of teaching and learning,textbooks are the main materials for students’ learning,and they play a crucial role in both teachers’ "teaching" and students’ "learning".From the perspective of international Chinese textbooks,although there are many existing textbooks,there are not many research results on the teaching of Idiomatic phrases compared with other perspectives of vocabulary teaching.Studying the phenomenon of Idiomatic phrases in international Chinese textbooks and its problems is beneficial for teachers to adopt more scientific teaching strategies and teaching methods for their teaching practices.At the same time,research on teaching materials can also help improve them and lay the foundation for teaching and learning with more reasonable writing methods.In this paper,we hope to contribute to the development of Idiomatic phrases teaching from two perspectives: teaching practice and textbook development.The main contents of this paper are: to adopt a statistical analysis method,to summarise the seven existing international Chinese textbooks,to classify the comprehensive textbooks applicable to different Chinese language levels from elementary to advanced,to conduct a statistical analysis of the collected idiomatic phrases materials,and to conduct a multi-faceted and multi-dimensional study on the teaching of idiomatic phrases with emphasis on vocabulary lists.On the basis of the analysis of the distribution of idiomatic phrases in textbooks,the strengths and weaknesses of the arrangement of idiomatic phrases in textbooks are summarised,and corresponding suggestions are put forward.This paper consists of seven chapters.The first chapter is an introduction,which introduces the background and significance of the topic of this paper,summarises the existing research results on idiomatic phrases,and explains the content and methodology of this paper.Chapter 2 presents a statistical analysis of the idiomatic phrases in the seven selected international Chinese textbooks by collecting and collating the idiomatic phrases corpus and presenting it in the form of a chart.Chapter 3 compares the idiomatic phrases from the textbooks with the Chinese Proficiency Vocabulary and Chinese Character Level Syllabus,the International Chinese Language Education Chinese Proficiency Level Standard,and HSK Vocabulary.andChapter 4 statistically analyzes the conformity of the idiomatic phrases in the textbooks with the three types of syllabuses,and summarizes the characteristics and limitations of the arrangement of idiomatic phrases in international Chinese textbooks,and points out the problems existing in them.Chapter 5 summarises the problems of teaching idiomatic phrases in Chinese teaching practice through a survey and analysis of international students’ mastery of idiomatic phrases.Chapter 6 proposes suggestions for the problems identified,in terms of textbook layout and teaching methods and strategies,in the hope of improving the teaching of idiomatic phrases in international Chinese language education.The concluding section summarises the research and analyses the shortcomings of the paper. |
