With the emergence of the epidemic in the world in 2020,various countries and fields around the world were affected to different degrees,and the global Chinese language teaching work was also affected accordingly,and it was also the epidemic that disrupted the normal development of Chinese language teaching and Chinese education.This paper mainly relies on the previous studies of the Confucius Institute at the University of Botswana and its research in the field of education,and focuses on the teaching situation of the comprehensive Chinese language classes at the Confucius Institute at the University of Botswana during the epidemic period,and specifically investigates and analyzes the teaching situation of teachers,the curriculum situation,and the learning situation of students during the epidemic period.Through classroom observation,questionnaires and interviews,we understand the difficulties and problems encountered by teachers and students under the influence of the epidemic,and give concrete suggestions on how to improve teachers’ teaching and organizational skills,students’ learning efficiency and the future development of the Confucius Institute at the University of Botswana.At the same time,if similar emergencies occur in the future,it can also provide a certain reference for Confucius Institutes and Chinese language teaching.The first chapter summarizes the existing research methods on Chinese language teaching and communication in Africa and Botswana,and then introduces the main contents of this paper,explaining the innovation and reasons for writing this paper.The second chapter introduces the basic situation of the research subjects from the overview of the development of the Confucius Institute at the University of Botswana and the situation of Chinese language teaching,mainly including the curriculum and opening of classes,the development of Chinese cultural activities,the status of teachers,the scale of students,the use of teaching materials and the reasons for replacing teaching materials in the Confucius Institute at the University of Botswana under the influence of the epidemic.The third chapter is based on the survey questionnaire design and classroom observation designed by the teachers and students of the Confucius Institute at the University of Botswana to investigate and analyze the teachers’ Chinese teaching and students’ learning under the influence of the epidemic.The fourth chapter is an analysis of the problems and suggestions for the teaching of Chinese integrated classes in the Confucius Institute at the University of Botswana under the influence of the epidemic.Finally,the concluding section summarizes the specific contents of the whole article.
