| This paper is based on "three teachings" Chinese as a foreign language(teachers,textbooks,teaching methods),with the help of the work previous researchers on Confucius institute school-running mode,curriculum setting and teaching Chinese as a foreign language,this paper focuses on investigating and analyzing Chinese teaching status of the Confucius institute at the university of Botswana in Africa.The paper is divided into three parts,the first part is the introduction,mainly introduces significance of the selected topic,current research,the theory and methodology of the research.The second part is the main part of the paper,a total of four chapters: Chapter 2 is the development of Confucius institute,Chinese teaching overview,understanding the basic information of respondents.Mainly constitutes two parts: First is the establishment and development of the Confucius institute.Mainly discussing the Confucius institute established background and recent developments;Secondly present situation on Chinese language teaching in Confucius institute.Mainly introduces the Confucius institute Chinese teachers’ existing resources,use of Chinese teaching materials,Chinese teaching facilities and teaching activities.The third chapter is a questionnaire investigation about the present situation of the Confucius institute Chinese teaching.The questionnaire covers three aspects,that is the teachers,teaching materials and teaching methods,the investigation will be carried out on the existing teachers and students.Teachers questionnaire captures academic and professional background,age,teaching experience and teaching suggestions.Students’ questionnaire will capture students’ basic information,investigate on how students feel about their teachers,textbooks,teaching methods and teaching activities.The fourth chapter is the analysis of the survey to identify the successes and challenges of the Confucius institute..Questionnaire analysis involves teachers,textbooks,teaching methods and teaching activities.The analysis of the problem of the problem will particularly focus on the special conditions that Confucius institute operates on in Africa,the rate of students’ drop out,the existing teaching materials and teaching system,and student needs.The fifth chapter gives useful and insightful suggestions and recommendations according to the results of investigation and analysis,made recommendations on the optimization of Chinese teachers,the selection and optimization of the use of teaching material,using Chinese teaching method and teaching activities designed to suit the Confucius institute.The third part is the conclusion,summarizing the process,results of the investigation and analysis. |
