As the material shell of Chinese language,Chinese pronunciation is the most important way to express and transmit information in Chinese communication.Over the past decades of reform and opening up,with the development of China’s economy,China’s international status and influence have been greatly enhanced.More and more countries are closely connected with China,and more and more people begin to learn Chinese and understand Chinese culture.This paper takes the teaching of Chinese phonetics in the Confucius institute of the university of Botswana in the democratic republic of Botswana in southern Africa as an example to conduct a country-specific phonetic teaching research.Based on my own teaching experience and interviews with teachers and students,this paper analyzes the difficulties and reasons for tswana native speakers to learn Chinese phonetics.Based on this,it makes an overall design of phonetics teaching in the university of Botswana and the Confucius institute of the university of Botswana,and carries out specific teaching implementation.The students of the Confucius institute of the university of Botswana were taken as samples for investigation and research,and the phonetic teaching experiment was conducted on them.The results of the teaching experiment were analyzed,and the conclusion was drawn in order to provide some schemes and countermeasures for the phonetic teaching in the Confucius institute of the university of Botswana.This paper is divided into five parts.The first part is the introduction,which introduces the reason and significance of the topic,the research status,the research ideas and methods.The second part makes a comparative analysis of the features of Chinese and tswana phonetics,including the features of vowels,consonants and tones.The third part introduces the general situation of phonetics teaching in the Confucius institute of the university of Botswana and the analysis of phonetics problems based on the investigation and interview of teachers and students,including the interview of teachers and the questionnaire survey of students.The fourth part is the overall phonetic teaching design and specific classroom teaching cases of the Confucius institute of the university of Botswana based on the analysis above.The classroom teaching cases include initials,finals and tones.The fifth part is the experimental test and test results analysis of the two classes after the traditional and new teaching methods of Chinese phonetics are adopted.The sixth part summarizes the main points of view and the existing problems and shortcomings of this paper.
