A Study On Thematic Word Clusters In Chinese Newspaper Textbooks And Teaching Applications

Chinese newspaper course is a window for Chinese learners to understand contemporary society and culture of China,and it is also an important way to improve their Chinese newspaper reading ability,which plays an irreplaceable role in the Chinese curriculum.In the actual teaching process of newspaper classes,the problems of aging books,difficult vocabularies and articles have not been effectively solved.This study is based on the current situation of teaching and research in Chinese newspaper courses and uses textual content analysis and corpus analysis.We investigated the thematic classification of Chinese newspaper textbooks,their thematic word groups and their pedagogical application value.This study has concluded that:(1)The thematic categories of Chinese newspaper texts are very stable,providing a rich variety of topics for newspaper classes,while the obsolete textual content of specific topics is an important reason for the "aging" of newspaper materials;(2)Chinese newspaper vocabulary is a system of word clusters aggregated around thematic concepts,and each category of newspaper text has its own thematic word cluster.As the range of thematic concepts narrows,the number of thematic word clusters decreases in size,and the thematic expressiveness of words gradually increases,providing sufficient vocabulary support for Chinese newspaper course.(3)From a co-temporal perspective,newspaper vocabulary has distinctive thematicity.The thematic word clusters of newspaper texts are highly aggregated around the theme concept,which can reflect the content characteristics of the text theme and the logical relationship between text information.And they are important for understanding the content of newspaper articles.(4)From a chronological perspective,newspaper vocabulary has a certain stability and period variability.In the case of consistent thematic categories,the intersection of words in thematic word clusters from different periods is relatively stable,reflecting the commonality in lexical choices of newspaper texts from all periods,which is the focus of vocabulary teaching and learning in newspaper classes.The collection of individual words in the thematic word clusters of different periods reflects the content changes of newspaper texts.And it is a breakthrough in solving the problem of timeliness of teaching materials.(5)Chinese newspaper course is "theme-based teaching" in nature,and teaching based on thematic word clusters is in line with the nature of the curriculum.As a teaching grip,thematic word clusters can effectively update the learning content,focus on specific teaching topics,and bring into the article comprehension effect of word cluster teaching to develop students’ Chinese newspaper reading ability.
