The report of the 20 th Party Congress points out that it is necessary to enhance the influence of Chinese civilisation,strengthen international communication capacity and improve the effectiveness of international communication,so as to deepen the exchange and mutual understanding of world civilisations and promote Chinese culture to the world.This points to the direction and goals for the international dissemination of Chinese culture.The Instituto Cervantes,as an internationally renowned linguistic and cultural communication institution,has played a crucial role in the foreign communication of Spanish culture.The absorption of the advanced experience of cultural communication in other countries can provide useful references for enhancing the influence of the communication power of Chinese civilisation.Based on this,this paper presents a statistical analysis of the cultural communication practices of the Instituto Cervantes and summarises its characteristics and experiences,with a view to providing a reference for the international dissemination of Chinese culture.The article takes the cultural activities of the 69 cultural centres set up by the Instituto Cervantes on five continents in 2022 as the object of research,and uses the online survey method to collect statistics on the cultural activities held by each cultural centre."The article begins with an introduction to the Instituto Cervantes Global Cultural Events Database 2022.The article firstly introduces the general situation of cultural communication at the Instituto Cervantes,including an overview of the Instituto Cervantes,the Instituto Cervantes’ cultural communication philosophy and cultural communication practices.Secondly,it analyses the cultural communication practices of the Instituto Cervantes in Europe,America,Africa,Asia and Oceania from a regional and country perspective,and summarises their common features.Thirdly,a case study of the cultural communication practice of the Instituto Cervantes in Milan is presented using the case study method.Finally,the insights from the cultural communication practice of the Instituto Cervantes are summarised,with a view to providing lessons for the cultural communication practice of the Confucius Institute and other international language communication institutions.The Instituto Cervantes’ s cultural dissemination practices in the various states share four common features: firstly,the diversity of communication actors and the division of labour help to spread culture widely;secondly,the market-oriented operation of cultural dissemination activities strengthens the momentum of sustainable development;thirdly,the richness and diversity of the topics of activities reveal the common values of humanity;fourthly,the richness of the forms of cultural activities and the multiplicity of media promote communication;fifthly,the targeting of audiences for activities enhances cultural dissemination Fifthly,the activities are targeted to enhance the effectiveness of cultural communication.The cultural dissemination practice of the Instituto Cervantes can provide certain inspiration for the dissemination of Chinese culture in Confucius Institutes: in terms of dissemination subjects,it is necessary to strengthen the cooperation of multiple parties to achieve mutual benefit;in terms of dissemination content,it is necessary to set a variety of topics to highlight common values;in terms of dissemination forms,it is necessary to make use of information technology to innovate activity forms;in terms of dissemination audiences,it is necessary to take the needs of audiences as the guide and carry out targeted cultural activities.
