The regional image is a part of the national image.The building of the regional image of the Hainan Free Trade Port is the result of the joint efforts of many parties,which is not only the image construction for the domestic audience,but also the image construction for the international audience.Therefore,cross-cultural communication has become an important form of image building and international communication in Hainan.Some scholars believe that the cross-cultural communication of regional image is to tell Chinese stories well and publicize China image to the world.This paper taking the contents about Hainan image on You Tube,the world’s largest video sharing platform as an example,analyzes the current situation and main problems of the cross-cultural empathy communication of Hainan image,and attempts to give strategic suggestions to strengthen and improve the cross-cultural empathy communication of Hainan image.The study has found that "low empathy" in the Hainan official and media channels on the You Tube platform,the lack of civil subjects which results in the failure to form effective interpersonal,organizational and group communication and the neglect of native-language and regionalized precise empathy communication,etc.have greatly affected the communication effects,and nor can it truly achieve cross-cultural communication.Therefore,this paper put forward 6 strategic suggestions,which include bringing the personalized empathy of civil subjects into full play,using content symbols for empathy communication,and carrying out native-language and regionalized precise empathy communication for different communication objects.This paper argues that the cross-cultural empathy communication of regional images is an important way to tell Chinese stories well,and only by telling the stories of China regions can we tell Chinese stories well and build a good national image.The regional image construction of Hainan Free Trade Port should be supported by the provincial party committee,the provincial government and other relevant departments,and the joint efforts of many parties should tell and publicize the story of Hainan Free Trade Port as well as the story of China’s construction of the free trade port by means of empathy communication so as to make foreign audiences truly understand Hainan and China better. |
